What Is Craft Beer?
Craft beer describes beer produced by small, independent breweries using traditional methods and natural raw materials. Unlike industrial beer, craft beer typically contains no additives, is often unfiltered and unpasteurised, and comes in a wide variety of styles.
Technical terms
ABV (Alcohol by Volume)
The percentage of alcohol in the total volume of the beer.
EBC (European Brewery Convention)
The European scale for beer colour. Low values indicate pale straw; high values indicate dark brown and black.
IBU (International Bitterness Units)
The chemical measure of hop bitterness. 10–20 reads as low, 40+ as pronounced and 60+ as high bitterness.
